Urdu Language Penetration by Pakistani Drama Serials

The Urdu language is spoken by Pakistani and Indians all over the world. In the spread of a language, the media plays a great role.
The Pakistanis do not like the language which Indians speak known as Hindi. It is because it is a method to pollute Urdu language. The Indians add too many words of the Hindi or the Sanskrit to the Urdu language and claim it their own language.

To make any language penetrate in to the masses, the linguists always suggest creating good movies in that language. The movies can be a great source of penetration of the Urdu language. However, Pakistan is very unfortunate in this regard.

Ali Sardar Zafri
Ali Sardar Zafri was born in Balrampur, Uttar Pradesh. He came to Mumbai in 1942 and made it his dwelling. detained for writing against British rule in India, Zafri was among the supporters of the progressive movement in Urdu literature. Zafri’s bookish career began at the young age of 17.

Urdu Literature in India

Urdu literature is a huge ground of enormous information and rich literary works by well-known poets and writers. Despite the fact that Hindi is somewhat life Urdu, they have developed and evolved on distinct lines. Urdu language prose has in essence drained much insight from Persian literature. Even in the present day, Urdu has a lot of words that belong to Persian, Arabic and Turkish languages. Hindi has drawn inspiration mainly from Sanskrit. A unique blend of all these languages can be found in the literature in Urdu language, which can be called a union of the richest languages.

Majaz
Majaz was born in Barabanki district of Uttar Pradesh in 1909-10. After completing his initial education from Lucknow and Agra, Majaz moved to Aligarh for his higher studies. He completed his graduation from Aligarh Muslim University in 1936. This was the same era when Aligarh Muslim University was swept by the progressive writers movement.

Firaq Gorakhpuri
Firaq Gorakhpuri was born Raghupati Sahay in the year 1896 at Gorakhpur District of Eastern Uttar Pradesh. Born to a family of aristocrats, Firaq had a taste of Urdu poetry at very tender age. He started writing poetry in Urdu in teens and developed his own niche in an era that was marked by the likes of Sahir, Iqbal, Faiz and Kaifi.

Language is the best source of communication among people. Different people of different areas speak different kinds of languages which are decided for speak for that area. Like other countries special India, pakistan also have several regional languages but Urdu is Pakistan’s national language so due to this reason Urdu is necessary for Pakistanis to learn and speak clearly for better communication among the people of different regions.

How the new Urdu writers can flourish

If we closely examine the Urdu literature scene, it is quite dominated by the old writers. It is true that the old Urdu writers are excellent. However, the literature of every language requires new writers constantly. Without them, the literature scene becomes stagnant, which of course, is not a good thing.

Nazeer Akbarabadi – A great Urdu poet of the Sub continent

Nazeer Akbarabadi was a poet of 18th century who wrote many Urdu Ghazals and nazams under pen name “Nazeer”. He was a poet of subcontinent. Nazeer Akbarabadi was son of Muhammad Farooq and his mother was the daughter of Nawab Sultan Khan who was governor of Agra Fort. Agra is now an Indian city which was known as Akbarabad after Mughal emporer Akbar at that time. Nazeer Akbarabai was born in Delhi in 1735 AD his date of birth is not accurate, it is only an guess of biographers.

International Urdu Conference 2010

The Third successful Urdu conference was held on 5th of December, 2010. There were many beautiful programmes which were apprehended during the four-day event at the Arts Council, Karachi.

The topic of the symposium was the 200th death anniversary of Emperor of Urdu Ghazal, Mir Taqi Mir, and the great services of Allama Iqbal, the Poet of the East.

What is wrong with the Urdu Popular Fiction?

The Urdu popular fiction has a very ardent fan base. Of course, it is called popular fiction only because it is very popular as compared to the literary works.
It is of no doubt that, the Urdu popular fiction is seeing great writers. These writers, mostly females, are doing their work very dutifully. They point out different social issues very successfully. It is needless to say that they are playing a great role in imprinting a positive impact on the society.

Orya Maqbool a great Urdu columist

Orya Maqbool Jan is a famous columnist, poet and CSP officer from Pakistan, who writes Urdu columns for Newspaper in Pakistan. He has received several national awards, which includes the best Urdu columnist in 2004. His one compilation of poetry has been in paper.

Abul Kalam Azad

Maulana Abul Kalam Muhiyuddin Ahmed was a sub continent’s Muslim scholar and a senior political leader of the Indian independence movement, who was born on 11 November 1888. He was one of the most well-known Muslim leaders to support Hindu-Muslim harmony, contrasting the partition of India on shared lines. Subsequent to the partition of sub continent, he became the first Minister of Education in the Indian government. He is normally remembered as Maulana Azad; he had adopted Azad as his pen name.

Zee Salaam: Another Urdu TV channel from India

In the beginning of this year a pioneer TV group in India, Zee, launched Zee Salaam, a channel intended for the Urdu speaking public.

After ETV Urdu and DD Urdu, It is the third Urdu channel in India. ETV Urdu is effectively on air for a decade now and is reasonably well-liked in India and out of the country. Doordarshan's Urdu channel DD Urdu, which was on aired a couple of years back.

National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) started its educational and organizational operations in April 1, 1996. NCPUL was affirmed a national Nodal Agency for endorsement of Urdu in India and accepted as an vital independent organization of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India devoted to promotion of Urdu language and mainstreaming of Urdu education.

Ibrahim Zauq's Urdu poetry

Sheikh Ibrahim Zauq (1789-1854) was one of the most renowned names of Urdu poets. He wrote poetry with a pen name "Zauq". He is among the traditional masters of Urdu poetry whose couplets are frequently quoted in discussion and in inscription, even after more than 150 years to his death.

Life-History of Renowned Urdu Writer Late Awaz Sayeed

Awaz Sayeed was born on 6th December 1933 and he died on 2nd July, 1995. His full name was Awaz Bin Sayeed, was a distinguished recent short-story author, poet, Khaka-naveez and dramatist from Hyderabad, India. He was acknowledged for his exceptional, pioneering and matchless style of short story writing. He is counted along with the few current Urdu writers of the Indian sub-continent, who have given a new significance to Urdu short-stories.

Mahesh Bhatt, Urdu and Communalism

Well-known filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt has appealed to the citizens to join hands to restore Urdu to its equitable position in India.

Recalling that his mother Shireen was a Shia who was married to a secular Hindu Brahmin, she had to hide her religion because she didn’t want her children to suffer and face communalism or develop multifaceted personalities, he writes in an expressive piece of writing in The Hindu. 

Urdu poets: Ramz, Ghulam Rizvi Gardish

Renowned Urdu poet Mohammad Ahmad Ramz died in Ghaziabad on 2nd April, 2010. He was the leading modernist poet.

Ramz was born in Sitapur in 1932. He emerged as a leading poet at the peak of modernist movement, especially in the 70s. Before known as Ramz Sitapuri, his collected works of poetry ‘Savaad-e-Rang’ got recognition.

Revival of Urdu

The Urdu language is undoubtedly the most widely spoken and understood in the Indian subcontinent. However, currently the language is seeing a decline in the quality. There could be various reasons of the decline.
One reason can be that the people are mixing more and more lingo from other languages in Urdu. Other than that, it is a fact that Urdu is not the mother tongue of most of the people of the subcontinent.
