National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) started its educational and organizational operations in April 1, 1996. NCPUL was affirmed a national Nodal Agency for endorsement of Urdu in India and accepted as an vital independent organization of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India devoted to promotion of Urdu language and mainstreaming of Urdu education.
It has done a tremendous job in the promotion of Urdu Language in India. Helping it merge into the modern trends of science and technology. There are a number of computer applications developed in Urdu for better understanding of the language. NCPUL has organized number of Kitab Mela’s for the promotion of Urdu literature and culture. The first successful Kitab mela was organized in 2000 and the 2nd in 2001, there have been one book festival every year after that by NCPUL.
The latest Book festival “All India Urdu Kitab Mela” is going to be held on 28th December 2010 till 4th January 2011. As every year it is going to be a huge success. There will be many stalls to encourage Urdu language and literature.
