International Urdu Conference 2010

The Third successful Urdu conference was held on 5th of December, 2010. There were many beautiful programmes which were apprehended during the four-day event at the Arts Council, Karachi.

The topic of the symposium was the 200th death anniversary of Emperor of Urdu Ghazal, Mir Taqi Mir, and the great services of Allama Iqbal, the Poet of the East.

In the initial session of the convention, significance and impact of Mir’s poetry on the Urdu language were painted by the speakers.

The grand international Urdu mushaira was one of the most interesting parts of the symposium, in which distinguished poets participated from across the world.

Eminent guests and scholars from a range of countries, including India, Bangladesh, UK, Kenya and Russia, presented their thesis on different topics relating to the Urdu language and literature.

In the conference, the speakers dropped light on the character, trends and impacts of the Urdu literature.

They also talked about the needs of Urdu and the ways to promote the Urdu language and literature. In the present time there is a dire need to promote Urdu and such events, due to the diluted educational system that is implemented in Pakistan. The younger generation don’t like to have affiliation with Urdu anymore.
